Why Game Choice Matters More in Summer

Summer changes how most Roblox players use the platform. With more free time, players tend to go deeper into progression systems (Blox Fruits, Pet Simulator X) rather than quick-session games. Multiplayer games are also more active — Brookhaven and Adopt Me servers fill faster because more people are online throughout the day, not just after school hours.

The other summer factor is events. Roblox runs platform-level events with free avatar items that require playing specific games during a limited window. Missing the event window means missing the items permanently, so checking the Events tab regularly during summer is worth the habit.

Best for Solo Play and Progression

Blox Fruits

If you want a game where summer playtime translates into long-term progress, Blox Fruits is the clearest answer. The game has a deep level-up and sea progression system that rewards time investment — grinding through the First Sea into the Second and Third Sea is a multi-week project that fits summer well. See our full Blox Fruits Guide for fruit tier lists and leveling tips.

Best for: Players aged 10+ who want a game with long-term goals and combat depth.

Pet Simulator X

Pet Simulator X is a relaxed grinding game where collecting and hatching pets is the core loop. The art style is accessible to younger players and it isn't combat-heavy, making it a lower-stress progression game. Summer events in Pet Sim X often add limited eggs and themed worlds. See our Pet Simulator X Guide for hatching and trading basics.

Best for: Players aged 8–14 who like collecting and progression without competitive pressure.

Best for Playing with Friends

Brookhaven RP

Brookhaven is a roleplay sandbox — there's no fixed objective, which makes it ideal for groups who want to hang out and create scenarios together. The free house and car system means anyone can participate without spending Robux. It's consistently in the top 5 by concurrent players for a reason: the format is simple, accessible, and social. See our Brookhaven Tips for lesser-known features.

Best for: Any age group, especially good for mixed-age friend groups.

Murder Mystery 2

Short round structure (under 5 minutes each) makes MM2 a good choice when the group has limited attention spans or mixed interest levels. The Sheriff vs. Murderer vs. Innocents format is easy to explain to new players, and rounds reset fast enough that bad luck doesn't feel punishing for long. Our Murder Mystery 2 guide covers knife collecting and game mechanics in detail.

Best for: Friend groups aged 9+ who want competitive short sessions.

Best for Younger Kids (Under 10)

Adopt Me

Adopt Me is the most popular Roblox game with younger children for good reason — the pet adoption and care loop is intuitive, the world is colorful and non-threatening, and trading pets with other players provides social interaction without conflict. Parental controls work normally in Adopt Me; see our Roblox parental controls guide to set up chat restrictions. Our Adopt Me guide covers pets, trading, and earning Bucks.

Best for: Players aged 6–10. Also one of the better shared-device games since rounds aren't structured.

Checking for Summer Events

Roblox runs platform-wide events at irregular intervals, typically tied to partnerships or seasonal themes. To see what's active:

  1. Open the Roblox app or website and look for the Events tab in the sidebar (on desktop) or under the Discover section (on mobile).
  2. Each event page shows the participating games, what item you earn, and the end date.
  3. You typically need to play the event game for a set amount of time or complete a specific objective to claim the reward.
  4. Claimed items go directly to your avatar inventory — no extra steps required.

Summer 2026 events had not all been announced as of this writing. Check the Events tab directly in the app for the current list, as events can start and end within a week.

Free Items to Collect This Summer

Beyond timed events, Roblox regularly adds free items to the Avatar Shop — limited-time offerings that become unavailable after a promotion ends. Check the Avatar Shop and filter by "Free" to see what's currently available. Promo codes are another source of free items; see our Roblox Promo Codes Guide for how to redeem them and where to find active codes.

A Note on Screen Time in Summer

Summer often means more total Roblox time. A few practical notes for parents and players:
